Legislative Update: The Senate Committee for Natural Resources and Economic Development will hear testimony on Senator Birdwell’s SB 1255
The Senate Committee for Natural Resources and Economic Development will hear testimony on Senator Birdwell’s SB 1255 tomorrow morning at 9:00am. The bill extends Chapter 313 through 2032, which is good. There are two things that are concerning about this bill, however.
1) Renewable Energy is removed from the list of eligible projects. That would take away roughly half of the state’s new economic development opportunities.
2) The Application Fee is capped at $50,000. This may be insufficient to cover the fees for representation and financial analysis.
ACTION REQUIRED: Please call your Senator today!
Ask them to support SB 1255 but keep renewables eligible for 313 agreements and allow school districts to continue to set their application fees by local policy.
